Having a birthday in the immediate vicinity of Christmas can be a real downer.

As a kid, you miss out on classroom birthday parties because you're on winter break. As an adult you can’t organize an out of town birthday squad trip without ripping your friends away from their own families. Even if you could, traveling anywhere remotely worthwhile will probably have you end up like an extra in Planes, Trains, & Automobiles. And of course, there are the infamous combination Christmas/birthday presents.

So one birthday-eve, after all the gifts had been given, all the food had been eaten, and all the quality time had been spent, I decided to leave my family and go to the studio. Little did I know that my efforts that night would become the gift that would keep on giving.

Since 2008, the “Happy Birfday To Me” song and video has been spreading birthday joy far and wide all year round.

This masterpiece has managed to stay live on YouTube all this time. But because I’ve lost other videos I’ve uploaded to the platform and ultimately aren’t in control of what YouTube does with my content, I decided to mint this creation to be preserved forever on the blockchain.
